Yango Ride
May 20, 2025
A global tech company Yango Group enters the Nepali market with a trial launch of a city services’ app — Yango. The ride-hailing solution became the first service available in the app during its test run in Kathmandu.
A mobility service in the app, Yango Ride, connects passengers with local transportation providers and empowers partner drivers to find customers. Using advanced technologies, including mapping, navigation systems and smart order distribution algorithms, it delivers a cost-effective, convenient experience for passengers while optimizing operational efficiency for partner drivers.
ADENIYI ADEBAYO
CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICER, YANGO RIDE
"Launching our test phase in Kathmandu with a mobility solution brings significant enthusiasm for us. The business model of Yango Ride service is built on close collaboration with local entrepreneurs, aiming to generate economic opportunities and support the development of the city’s dynamic transport infrastructure. During the trial period, feedback from both riders and partner drivers will be essential in fine-tuning our services to meet the specific needs of the Nepali market."
Improving efficiency & tech solutions for SMEs growth
Yango Ride does not operate its own cars or drivers, but rather facilitates local partners and transportation providers to offer services to passengers via the app. The service focuses on helping partners digitize their operations and improve efficiency by using tech solutions for operational needs. Yango Ride provides digital accounting, fleet management, and operational tools to increase transparency, efficiency, and value for local taxi companies.
Affordability and effectiveness during the rides
The Yango app is available in Nepal and free to download in Google Play and App Store offering the ability to order a ride on cars in Economy tariff, which also includes eco-friendly electronic fleets, and motorbikes. The service utilizes geolocation technology to pinpoint the passenger’s location and find the nearest available partner driver, significantly reducing wait times and car dispatch. Yango Ride automatically calculates the estimated cost of each trip based on the user’s inputted destination address and currently allows payment in cash.
The in-app features also help cut down the trip cost and the time a partner driver spends on finding a passenger, moving to the next one, or driving to the destination. A partner driver completes rides one after another and can switch to the next customers while finishing the current ride. This helps the partner driver save fuel and reduces empty car mileage.
Focusing on safety
One of the key elements of the service’s strategic vision is safety. More than 20 special features before, during and after the ride are already available for passengers and partner drivers in Kathmandu, including speed and reckless driving control, sharing the route with trusted contacts, a safety center button with an ability to quickly contact an SOS number in case of emergency and more.
Yango Ride is dedicated to develop transportation accessibility, providing a convenient and reliable option for daily commutes for Kathmandu’s passengers and to contribute to job opportunity creation in the region. By collaborating with local taxi companies the service aims to help businesses digitalize their operations and increase efficiency in urban mobility
