Check every couple of months, especially if you think you might have messed up recently. That way you can grab the biggest discount if something pops up.
Or go in person to an SAT office or to banks like BCP, BBVA, Interbank, Scotiabank, BanBif.
Outside Lima it depends on your local municipality — check their website or drop by the traffic police station.
Gather whatever proof you can muster — photos, videos, statements from witnesses, or any other evidence that shows the ticket shouldn’t stand. It does involve some paperwork and effort on your part to see it through, but the option is definitely there.
Don’t use your phone, keep the car in good shape, rest if you’re tired. One moment of distraction can cost you a lot… and not just money.
The ticket is only a warning. What really matters is getting home safe — you and everyone else on the road.
