Yango is looking for a Regional Public Policy Manager to lead policy and regulatory efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa shaping and executing public policy strategies across key business areas.
You will be responsible for
• Developing and executing public policy strategies aligned with Yango’s priorities in ride-hailing, e-commerce, search and maps, and streaming services • Building and maintaining relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, unions, and key stakeholders across the region • Engaging with ride-hailing and taxi unions to promote dialogue and support a balanced regulatory environment • Organizing events that bring together policymakers, unions, and company representatives to foster collaboration and mutual understanding • Monitoring political, legislative, and regulatory developments and providing timely insights and recommendations to internal teams • Representing Yango in meetings with government bodies, industry associations, and multi-stakeholder forums • Building partnerships with public and private sector organizations to strengthen the company’s policy position • Coordinating with internal teams—including legal, PR, marketing, and product—to align public policy efforts with overall business goals • Managing cooperation with local consultants to ensure the effective implementation of policy strategies • Preparing briefings and reports on regulatory trends and key stakeholders to guide engagement plans • Leading government engagement during policy crises or regulatory incidents to support fast and effective resolution
You might be a fit if you have
• Hold a degree in political science, public policy, law, international relations, or a related field • Have 5+ years of experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs, preferably in tech or transport sectors • Have experience working with unions or transport stakeholders • Are fluent in English (Portuguese is a strong advantage) • Understand the political and economic landscape of Sub-Saharan Africa, especially as it relates to tech and mobility • Can break down complex policy issues into actionable strategies • Have excellent communication skills and political instincts • Are willing to travel across the region and internationally • Are passionate about innovation, digital inclusion, and fair market development
